Rather than re-post all the information I've found in different places on the web, I've just supplied the links below...If you're having trouble with your Webers, the site links below will surely help you. They all have excellent information regarding carburetor troubleshooting. They are not all specifc to Webers...or even to VWs, but they don't need to be. The general operating characteristics of carbs are pretty much universal.
As it turned out, my personal carburetor problem ended up being a clogged Idle Jet. The motor was idling well, but stumbling on acceleration and spitting through the progression circuit. That took a lllllllooooooonnnnnnngggggggg time for me to diagnose. There are many different things that can cause such a condition. But I would never have figured it out on my own if it wasn't for the sites below and the following book: "Weber Carburetors" published by HP Books 1988, author Pat Braden.
